On 01 July, a meeting between Igor Sechin, Rosneft President and Chairman of the Management Board and Juan Jose Hernando Sosa Soruco, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia took place as part of the visit of the delegation of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the Russian Federation.
The meeting was also attended by Carlos Villegas Quiroga, President of the State Oil Company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos, and Maria Ramos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivia to Russia on the Bolivian side, and by Boris Kovalchuk, Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC Inter RAO UES, on the Russian side.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to developing comprehensive relations between Russia and Bolivia, and particularly noted a special importance of energy partnership for expanding mutual cooperation and strengthening the two countries’ economies. The parties resolved to establish a joint Working Group for developing promising hydrocarbon production projects.
For reference: Based on 2012 reporting, Rosneft confirmed its status as the world’s largest public oil company by proven liquid hydrocarbon reserves and by hydrocarbon reserves. Company’s proven hydrocarbon reserves are 5.4 bln toe. Bolivia is Latin America’s third largest country after Venezuela and Trinidad in terms of natural gas reserves and a main natural gas supplier to Brazil and Argentina. Overall, there are 104 discovered gas and condensate fields in the country. According to BP Statistic Review, Bolivia’s year-end 2012 proven gas reserves were about 317 bcm. |
