A unique operation of the large-size equipment transportation to the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery is completed. Nine columns for the under-construction hydrocracking facility and a regeneration unit for methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) were manufactured and delivered as part of a large-scale Rosneft investment programme for the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery.
The total weight of the hydrocracking facility columns is about 1,500 tonnes. The heaviest fractionating hydrocracking column of vacuum gas oil weighs 309 tonnes and the length of the columns varies from 18 to 58 meters. All equipment was delivered to Samara Region by barge along the Volga, then along the Krivusha River to the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery cargo berth in the Mayak settlement.
Novokuibyshevsky Refinery conducted a complex operation on land transportation. Nine columns were transported through Novokuibyshevsk city at a slow pace by a self-propelled transport platform, which crossed the railway tracks and traveled under contact nets, power lines and trolleybus lines in accordance with a specially developed logistics project. In this regard, railroad communications were dismantled and reassembled in order to organize three gaps on the railway. The equipment was delivered to the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery site on schedule as a result of the well-coordinated work of all services.
The construction of the hydrocracking facility of the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery is an important stage of the large-scale plant renovation program of Rosneft. Putting the facility into operation will make it possible to obtain additional volumes of light oil products, such as diesel fuel and low sulfur gasolines, from heavy hydrocarbons.
Note for Editors:
In order to deliver large-capacity equipment to the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery in 2013, a special cargo berth was built on the Volga tributary, capable of receiving more than 3,000 tonnes of floating vessels and 15 kilometers of roadbed in Novokuibyshevsk were reconstructed. Unloading of large-sized cargoes is carried out by the rolling method without grounding the barge.
The Novokuibyshevsk Refinery carried out an operation to deliver by water and land four reactors of vacuum gas oil and hydrotreating with a total mass of more than 3,000 tonnes in 2014.
