Doha Hosts Premiere of Anna Karenina by Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre

Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre has presented the play “Anna Karenina” to the music of Tchaikovsky at the Qatar Foundation in Doha. Rosneft Oil Company provided for the event as its main sponsor.
The performance was hosted on February 12 and 13 at QNCC Al Mayassa Theatre, following on a range of projects implemented as part of the Bilateral Year of Culture of Qatar and Russia.
The audience enjoyed the unique opportunity to appreciate the original ballet production and choreography of the highest level, to perceive the music by Petr Tchaikovsky, and to delight in the one-of-a-kind costumes and stage design. The performance scored a great success, the audience gave the performers a standing ovation.
The Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre’s tour in Doha also included a special event for children interested in ballet - on February 13 they could attend a morning class of the professional dancers.
The premiere in Doha was attended by: Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, Qatari Ambassador in Russia; Nurmakhmad Kholov, Russian Ambassador in Qatar; the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Museums Ahmad Musa Al-Namla; Yury Kalinin, Rosneft VP for HR and Social Policy; Elena Zavaleeva, Rosneft VP - State Secretary; Vasily Shestakov, President of the International Sambo Federation; and others.
