RN-Uvatneftegaz, a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company, has discovered a new oil field, Sosnovoye, with total C1+C2 reserves of 4.2 million tonnes. An industrial oil flow with a flow rate of more than 22 cubic metres per day was obtained at an appraisal well.
The Sosnovoye field is located within the Yuganskoye-12 licence area in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District--Yugra. The area was acquired to expand the resource base and to replenish industrial hydrocarbon reserves.
RN-Uvatneftegaz plans to continue the additional exploration of the Sosnovoye field. In the near future, a detailed 3D seismic survey and drilling of two new appraisal wells are planned here. At the same time, special attention will be paid to the study of productive Jurassic aquifers and the study of reservoir production characteristics through hydraulic fracturing operations.
The Sosnovoye field is located near the Protozanovsky hub, the centre of development of neighbouring satellite fields, which are successively commissioned. The use of the developed infrastructure of the Protozanovsky hub during the development of the field will provide a significant synergy.
Note for Editors:
RN-Uvatneftegaz is engaged in hydrocarbon exploration and production at 19 licence areas in the south of Tyumen Region (Uvat District), in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District--Yugra, and in Omsk Region.
In 2019, the Company has already put on the balance sheet of the State Committee for Mineral Reserves the Matusevich field with C1+C2 recoverable reserves of 5.5 million tonnes.
