Rosneft Oil Company and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan have held the second meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee via a video conference. The meeting was attended by Mikhail Galuzin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Japan, and supported by the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in Japan and JOGMEC (Japan Oil Gas and Metals National Corporation).
The Joint Coordination Committee had been established in September 2019 with a view to develop strategic cooperation in energy sector and to elaborate on new joint projects implementation.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for intensification of the dialogue between Rosneft and the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan, as well as interested Japanese companies, over various areas of the Committee’s work. Possibilities of increasing supplies of crude and petroleum products from Russia to Japan, opportunities for cooperation in the LNG sector, upstream and petrochemical projects, equipment manufacturing and supplying, and research activities drew special attention.
The parties noted that the Committee’s work was maintained consistently despite the global spread of the new coronavirus infection, and the results achieved prove the potential for further development of the partnership.
The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for H2 2021.
