Geologists at Vostok Oil, Rosneft’s largest oil and gas project, proved oil saturation of the Nizhnekhetskaya Formation during a geologic survey at the Lodochnoye field and explained the need for its inclusion in the main development targets. The exploratory well gave a free-flowing oil rate of 225 cubic meters per day, which is significantly higher than the average rate for new wells in Russia. This data will allow to increase the proven reserves of the field in the future.
Rosneft has been carrying out geologic survey at the Lodochnoye field since 2014. Over this time, 7 exploration wells have been drilled and 490 km2 of 3D seismic work has been carried out. As a result of the geologic survey, the initial recoverable reserves of the Lodochnoye field increased from 31 to 78 million tonnes of crude and condensate (as of 01.01.2021).
Additional exploration at the Lodochnoye field is a part of the comprehensive geological survey programme for the Vostok Oil project, under which 3D seismic works have already been performed in the scope of 500 km2, construction of three exploration wells was completed, drilling and testing of eight wells continue just this year.
The survey at the license areas of the Vostok Oil project will continue next year. It will also include 2D and 3D seismic surveys and drilling of exploration wells.
Note for Editors:
Vostok Oil is the biggest project both for the national and global economies. Its resource base exceeds 6 billion tonnes of premium low-sulphur oil.
The Vostok Oil project is comprised of 52 license areas located in the north of Krasnoyarsk Territory and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, which accommodate 13 oil and gas fields, including the Vankor (Vankorskoye, Suzunskoye, Tagulskoye and Lodochnoye fields) and Payakh clusters.
The Lodochnoye field is located in the Turukhansk region of Krasnoyarsk Territory, bordering the Vankorskoye, Tagulskoye, and Ichemminskoye fields. Oil production at the Lodochnoye field has been carried out since 2017.
