On 22 December, Russia traditionally celebrates the professional holiday of energy industry workers.
Rosneft is one of the largest energy consumers in the Russian Federation, with annual electricity consumption of almost 48.5 billion kWh.
The key activities of energy professionals are utilisation of fuel and energy resources, introduction of energy-saving technologies and equipment, as well as optimisation of energy costs. As part of the energy saving programme, the Company saved 234,000 tonnes of fuel equivalent, or over 4.4 billion roubles, in the first nine months of 2022. The volume corresponds to the production of 160,000 tonnes of oil and is comparable to the annual electricity consumption of a 250,000-strong city.
The Company’s employees operate a massive complex of power equipment, including some 62,000 km of power grids, 41,000 6-220 kV transformer substations and generating facilities with an aggregate installed electric capacity of 2.24 GW. The energy divisions of the Company’s subsidiaries employ more than 21,000 people.
Reliable and uninterrupted power supply to production assets is the main task of Rosneft’s energy specialists. The consistent implementation of programmes for the modernisation, repair and reconstruction of energy equipment and the use of effective innovative technologies, high-tech equipment and modern means of control has made it possible to double the reliability of the Company’s energy equipment over the past seven years.
The main focus of the Company’s energy specialists lies in the timely provision of fuel and energy resources for prospective production loads. In particular, Rosneft has developed a concept for power supply to its flagship Vostok Oil project facilities, which includes the construction of 13 power plants with a total installed capacity of about 3.4 GW and 21 main power centres and overhead lines of 1,800 km in length. Major power facilities are being designed, such as the 867 MW Irkinskaya GTPP and the 214 MW Buchta Sever power plant.
Furthermore, in order to provide the Company’s new production facilities with electricity until 2030, Rosneft is looking to build power plants with a combined capacity of up to 482 MW, as well as 28 110-220 kV transformer substations and an electricity grid with a total length of about 1,000 km.
Happy professional holiday, dear colleagues!
