On June 17, Rosneft Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin is going to deliver a speech at the Energy Panel of the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with a report “Sodom And Gomorrah on the Energy Markets: Wrath of God or Organzied Chaos? Save Yourself if You Can."
As part of the report, the head of Rosneft will present an analysis of the energy transition and climate change problem. The oil and gas industry, which is the guarantor of energy security, is increasingly becoming the target of aggressive actions by regulators that do not take into account the specifics of field operation and investment cycles of projects. Energy transition only exacerbates the situation as it increases the dependence of mankind on mineral resources and does not solve the problem of energy provision. In addition, it is not supported by the necessary technologies.
Igor Sechin will pay special attention to the instability of the global financial and economic system, the US banking crisis and the declining role of the dollar as a reserve currency. Can something replace the dollar and how quickly? The answer to this question can be given during the Energy Panel.
It is expected that the head of Rosneft will raise issues of actions coordination within OPEC+ and make a forecast regarding the hydrocarbon market prospects.
Igor Sechin will also present a roadmap to improve the efficiency of the Russian energy sector in the face of unprecedented external challenges, and will make proposals that are designed to provide the domestic economy with affordable energy, a key resource for its sustainability and development.
